thealist: credits guidelines.

one.
We operate a five year rule between the age of your character and the age of the actor or actress who portrayed their roles in real life - i.e., your character can only be five years older or younger than the celebrity who portrayed the role, though exceptions can be made on a case-by-case basis. Additionally, please bear in mind that we wouldn't allow a sixteen year old to portray a role originally played by an eleven year old. If you're unsure if your character would work for a specific role, feel free to drop us a line and check before you apply. We are more flexible with this rule when it comes to musicians, but having a twenty-year-old character with the voice of a forty-year-old would again be disallowed. It's all about common sense!

two.
Actors are limited to three major film projects per year if they are playing a leading role in all three, or two leading roles and two supporting roles. If they are involved in a television series, they are limited to two leading movie roles or one leading and two supporting. Again, exceptions can be made, but it's unlikely an actor would have enough time to shoot and promote their movies if their schedule was more intense than this. If your character is a musician who also acts, they're limited to one leading and one supporting movie role per year, or three supporting roles and zero leading roles due to the demanding touring and recording schedule of most musicians.

three.
All dates for movies, TV shows, theatre productions, literature etc must be kept the same as their real life dates. For movies, we use IMDb to find official release dates. We also prefer that premieres and filming dates are kept in line with the real life dates, but providing you obtain permission from your character's co-stars as well as the mods, we are a little more flexible on this. The exception to this role is music credits, which can be pushed back up to a maximum of five years from the album or song's original release date.

four.
Musicians are allowed up to two vocal claims, though we ask that you be realistic about this - for example, the credits of Britney Spears and Lady Gaga are likely to be denied for being too major, similarly the credits of Justin Bieber and Kurt Cobain would be denied for being too dissimilar.

five.
Credits (both initial credits and future credits) are claimed on a first-come, first-serve basis and will be kept track of at ~alistcredits. You will be denied if you apply with taken credits or credits that fall outside the five year rule (providing you haven't checked with us first), so be sure to check the entire credits journal.

six.
Please be mindful of how many credits your character has in common with another. While we understand that actors will often work together several times, we ask that your characters don't share more than five projects with one another. Exceptions can be made and, of course, movies as part of a franchise (e.g. the Twilight franchise) would count as one project, not five.

seven.
To encourage creativity, we only allow your character to share 1-2 movie/television credits with their PB. We also ask that these aren't major credits (no roles in movies that are part of a franchise or multiple episode television show roles, for example) or credits that your PB is especially well known for. Your character cannot share a musical credit with their PB.

eight.
When you ask for credit changes, please wait for these to be approved by the mods before mentioning them in game. It doesn't happen often, but we do occasionally deny credit changes for various reasons - if you have already brought the change to light in-game, it makes it more awkward and difficult for everyone involved.

please remember that there are exceptions to every rule - if you want us to clear something up either before or applying, just ask us!
